Im too lazy to hunt for the screenshots AND I recognize that its happened at earlier parts of the story BUT
Laois protecting Marcille from the falling icicles is just the EXACT reason her and Chilchuck stayed despite everything (besides Falin for Marcille of course). Despite the two of them not understanding him, despite them being put off by his mannerisms at times, despite their varying levels of discomfort around monster food they KNOW at the end of the day Laois has their backs.
He will do everything in his power to keep his party safe with zero hesitation or convincing and he does so because he genuinely cares about them. He might not know how to time a Morale Boosting Speech for when people *dont* have a mouth full of food, but they know he'll be there for them when they need him the most.
#YES Im including Chilchuck#Marcille was/is more extra with her dislike of monster food#especially in the beginning#but for most of her opinions that she had. i love hearing old ladies share about their vintage fashion doll collections. like doll collectors on social media skew very young bc duh it's social media but there's something extremely comforting about pre-internet era collectors sharing their knowledge and history.
#my great aunt (b. 1946) is an og barbie collector. among like a million other reasons she's so much cooler than me#she's the aunt who's given me a bunch of her old poetry books#again bc she's so much cooler than me#text post#i love frothing at the bit about new fashion doll releases w the girls and the gays but it does feel very consumerist sometimes#i mean it IS. like most hobbies nowadays there's a very large consumerist element#and fashion dolls are like inherently more-consumerist-than-not. doesn't mean they can't be art#doesn't mean they can't be meaningful and significant and personal and all that blah blah blah#i don't feel the need to justify my interest in dolls anymore i really don't#bc a lot of us who are old and wise enough know and accept the faults in the nature of doll collecting for what it is.#but there's certainly something about vintage dolls that really doesn't just feel like A Pretty Thing#but it does feel like a way of preserving and honoring history#the sense of wonder i get from holding a child's play thing that is the same age as my parents is indescribable#rn im watching a youtube video w less than 5k views that's a recording of a zoom meeting presentation#made by some woman from a group of doll collector clubs seemingly most primarily targeted at like middle aged and older women#i just love shit like this. like the production quality is NOTHING but the research and passion and knowledge is THERE#like all the young ppl on dolltube cannot go toe to toe w this faceless nameless woman talking about her bild lillies#idk who you are lady but you are my queen and i worship your majesty

Saber was one of the final network releases I've located (after‚ i might say‚ a long long search for a reasonably priced#copy). so. the story of Saber of London. (deep breath). SoL is really a development of The Vise; for more on the needlessly complex history#of that series you can follow the appropriate tag above. in short The Vise was a crime anthology made specifically for US tv but produced#in the UK using brit actors writers and directors. the recurring character of Mark Saber was popular enough that the show eventually became#The Vise: Mark Saber; it then became Saber of London. some sources still regard this show as essentially being a later series of The Vise#(and it does still use the og theme tune over the end credits) but considering the title change and (crucially) the fact that SoL saw the#series move from ABC to NBC‚ im gonna consider this its own self contained show and number the episodes accordingly (ie. this is series 1 o#Saber of London not series 5 or 7 (depending on your counting) of The Vise). anyway now that's all out of the way.#there's little material difference between this series and the slightly earlier The Vise: Mark Saber episodes besides new titles and a#different introductory spiel from star Donald Gray. our hero is still a plucky private detective undertaking modest cases that the show's#budget will allow. this ep concerns art forgeries and an attempt to trap the criminals responsible‚ which means Saber must call on an art#expert to help authenticate the works. enter Honor! not yet a star‚ Honor did have a decade of acting experience behind her#which is maybe reflected in the fact that she's given an unusually meaty part for a woman in this series: she's neither victim nor love#interest (which are the usual roles) but a witty and intelligent source of assistance to the hero.#unlike The Vise episodes (which could take up to a decade to appear in the uk if they did at all) SoL appears to have had a fairly regular#slot from Granada about two years after the show's US premier. this ep would have been seen by uk audiences in 1959

how do you get over imposter syndrome? i’m asking for a friend.
#currently my job role is editing copy for the organization I work for and making sure everything is on brand in our company voice and tone#my manager approached me last week Friday about editing our company magazine cause our current editor is moving onto a new opportunity#and im like 👁️👄👁️ uhhhhhhh#I have a background in journalism from my undergrad studies and I already edit copy for work but this feels so much bigger#I’m responsible for making sure the grammar/spelling and voice/tone is correct and if something is wrong it’s my ASS ON THE LINE#I’m honored and grateful that my manager thought of putting my name forward for this role and I know deep down I can do it#but I’m so SCARED#our current editor is so talented and comes from the OG newspaper editing so she knows her shit#I feel like my grammar and spelling is abysmal half the time#and I know if I was a man (especially a white man) I would do it whether I felt like if I was capable or not#so I need to give myself more credit and grace cause I know I’m smart and I have important skills/perspective I can contribute#but I’m freaking out yall#I also don’t want my job to become my whole life or focus and take away from outside pursuits of happiness and hobbies#but it’s an amazing opportunity and I feel like I’d be dumb to not do it#so my rambling about it is pointless but i need to quietly freak out here cause I can’t let them know I’m scared and shot myself in the foot#but imposter syndrome is BREWING and BUBBLY hot and fiercely#I’m such a control freak and I need to feel like I’m *ready* to do things before I do them but I know most of the learning comes from doing#researching will only get me so far#but I gotta sharpen my grammar skills (I know I’m bound to make a mistake I’m human) but I can’t let the previous editor see me slip#she’s like ‘this magazine is my baby and now it’s yours’ and I’m like BABE I DONT EVEN WANT KIDS#I feel like Alex in that TLSP interview when he’s in the mirror hyping himself up ‘it’s gonna be okay. just say your goodbyes’
